In Memory: Abraham Williams
Abraham Williams, retired minister, died March 30 at Maui Memorial Medical Center. He was 93 years old.
Born October 21, 1917, in Anahola (Kaua'i), Abraham left Kaua'i and his home church, Koolau Hui'ia Church, to attend college. After receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in Bible from Fort Wayne Bible Institute in Indiana and a Master of Science degree in Education from Indiana University, he attended Fuller Seminary, graduating in 1963.
Abraham then served as Pastor of Waiola Congregational Church (Maui) from 1964 until his retirement in 1984. He loved working with his hands, building and renovating homes and working the land, planting fruits, vegetables, and flowers.
Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. on Friday, April 22, at Waiola Church in Lahaina. The service will be at 10 a.m. with the burial to follow at the Waiola Congregational Church Cemetery.
His wife, Ethel, passed away in 2006. He is survived by a son, Abraham B. Kalama Williams, and daughter, Katherine Lokelani Patrick.
